Some Peculiarities of Proton Transport in Quasi-One-Dimensional Hydrogen-Bonded Chains

چکیده
The protonic conductivity in the hydrogen bonded chains is investigated theoretically in the framework of the two-stage transport model. The strong interactions with optical phonon stretching mode are considered. We obtain the transition from the insulator to the metal-type state from the temperature dependencies of the hopping conductivity and analyze the influence of the specific Grotthuss mechanism on the transition character. We investigate also the main peculiarities in the frequency dependencies of the band and hopping conductivity parts which appear due to above-mentioned two-stage process of the proton migration along the chain. 72.20.i,66.30.Dn,71.30.+h Typeset using REVTEX 1

A Temperature-Dependent Hartree Approach for Excess Proton Transport in Hydrogen-Bonded Chains
We develop a temperature-dependent Hartree (TeDH) approach to solving the N-dimensional Schrödinger equation, based on the time dependent Hartree (TDH) approximation, where the Ndimensional Schrödinger equation is approximated as N one-dimensional equations with a time dependent Hamiltonian arising from the mean field potentials. The TeDH method uses the temperature-dependent analog of the TDH ...
متن کاملProtonic Conductivity : a New Application of Soliton Theory
We propose a two sublattice model with a doubly periodic on-site potential to describe the proton transport in hydrogen-bonded quasi-one-dimensional networks. The discrete system is reduced to a continuum double Sine-Gordon equation for the protonic part plus a simple differential equation for the heavy ion part. Its two-component kink solitons correspond to the ionic and B j e m defects. The c...

The photochromic reaction of a diarylethene derivative having imidazoline rings reversibly modulates the dielectric properties of the crystal, which is based on the intermolecular proton transfer in one-dimensional (1D) hydrogen-bonded chains.
متن کاملChance and design--proton transfer in water, channels and bioenergetic proteins.
Proton transfer and transport in water, gramicidin and some selected channels and bioenergetic proteins are reviewed. An attempt is made to draw some conclusions about how Nature designs long distance, proton transport functionality. The prevalence of water rather than amino acid hydrogen bonded chains is noted, and the possible benefits of waters as the major component are discussed qualitativ...
متن کاملDiscrete kink dynamics in hydrogen-bonded chains: the one-component model.
We study topological solitary waves (kinks and antikinks) in a nonlinear one-dimensional Klein-Gordon chain with the on-site potential of a double-Morse type. This chain is used to describe the collective proton dynamics in quasi-one-dimensional networks of hydrogen bonds, where the on-site potential plays the role of the proton potential in the hydrogen bond. The system supports a rich variety...
